Annual Shabbat Service and Dinner in Honor of

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Hattie Washington

Founder and President of Aunt Hattie's Place

a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing a safe, stable, nurturing, and long-term home for abused, abandoned, and neglected children in foster care.

and

Ms. Marian Wright Edelman

President, Children's Defense Fund

a non-profit child advocacy organization that has worked relentlessly for 35 years to ensure a level playing field for all children.

 

Please join Washington Hebrew on Friday night, January 15, 2010 at 6:00pm for a festive dinner for members, local churches and invited guests.  The Shabbat service, which starts at 8:00 pm, will feature an interdenominational panoply of clergy as well as musical presentations by Kol Rinah and invited choirs.

Dinner is $18.00 per person and must be pre-paid no later than 1pm on 1/14/10.

Join clergy, lay leaders and members of the congregation as WHC's continues it's commitment to social action with cooking for the homeless and needy families in the community.

martyred teenagers whose deaths in Germany and Mississippi
lent voice and face to countless unnamed victims of genocide and racism.
Through her diary, she personalized the horrors of the Holocaust.
His murder sparked a movement for civil rights that changed our country.

The playwright will answer questions following the production,
which is free and open to the public.
